Dr. Charles M. Geschke, also known as Chuck, Co-founded Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1982. Dr. Geschke served as President of Adobe Systems Inc., since April 1989 until his retirement in April 2000 and served as its Chief Operating Officer from December 1986 to July 1994. Dr. Geschke formed the Imaging Sciences Laboratory at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). He was a Principal Scientist and Researcher at Xerox PARC's Computer Sciences Laboratory. He has been Chairman of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited since 1997. He served as Co-Chairman of the Board at Adobe Systems Incorporated from September 1997 to February 1, 2017. He served as Chairman of the Board at Rambus Inc. from November 29, 2004 to June 23, 2005. He has been an Director of Adobe Systems Inc. since 1983. He serves as a Director of Commonwealth Club of California. He serves as a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, the Government-University Industry Research Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences and the Board of Governors for the San Francisco Symphony. He also serves on the computer science advisory boards of Carnegie-Mellon University and Princeton University, the Board of Trustees for the University of San Francisco. Dr. Geschke served as Director of Rambus Inc. from February 1996 to March 11, 2005. Dr. Geschke served as a Director of Tableau Software, Inc. since February 2007. He was the recipient of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, one of the nation's highest honors bestowed on scientists, engineers and inventors. Many industry and business leaders have honored Dr. Geschke for his outstanding technical and managerial achievements, including the Association for Computing Machinery, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Carnegie-Mellon University, the National Computer Graphics Association and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a recipient of the John W. Gardner Leadership Award and the Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch and Inc. Magazine. In 2000, Mr. Geschke was ranked the seventh most influential graphics person of the last millennium by Graphic Exchange magazine. He received the Medal of Achievement from the American Electronics Association in 2006. Dr. Geschke studied an AB Degree in Classics and an M.S. Degree in Mathematics from Xavier University of Ohio and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University.
