Dr. John E. Warnock co-founded Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1982. Dr. Warnock served as a Chief Technical Officer of Adobe Systems Inc. from December 2000 to March 2001. Dr. Warnock served as the Chief Executive Officer of Adobe Systems Inc. from 1982 to December 2000 and its President from December 1982 to March 1989. Dr. Warnock was a Principal Scientist of the Imaging Sciences Laboratory at Palo Alto Research Center Incorporated. Dr. Warnock held key positions at Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation, IBM and the University of Utah. He served as a Co-Chairman of Adobe Systems Incorporated from April 1989 to January 2017. He held key positions at Xerox PARC, Evans & Sutherland, Computer Sciences Corp. Dr. Warnock served as the Chairman of the Board at Salon Media Group, Inc. from December 7, 2006 to January 25, 2017. He has been a Director of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited since 1984. He has been an Director of Adobe Systems Inc. since 1983. He serves as a Director of Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation, MongoNet, Inc., Tech Museum of Innovation, ebrary, Inc., and Octavo Corporation. He served as the Chairman of Tech Museum of Innovation. He serves as Member of the Board of Trustees of American Film Institute and Folger Shakespeare Library. He served as a Director of Salon Media Group, Inc. from August 2001 to January 25, 2017. He served as a Director of Netscape Communications Corporation since April 1995. Dr. Warnock served as an Independent Director of Knight Ridder Inc. since 2001. He served as a Director of Red Brick Systems, Inc. since April 1991. He serves on the Entrepreneurial Board Advisory Committee of American Film Institute. For three decades, Dr. Warnock has been respected as an innovator in the field of computer software. He was the recipient of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, one of the nation's highest honors bestowed on scientists, engineers and inventors. He holds six patents, has contributed many articles to both technical journals and industry magazines and is a frequent speaker on critical issues in the computer and publishing industries. Dr. Warnock's entrepreneurial success has been chronicled by some of the country's most influential business and computer industry publications and he has received numerous awards for technical and managerial achievement. A partial list of awards includes: Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch and Inc. Magazine; Cary Award from Rochester Institute of Technology; Lifetime Achievement Award for Technical Excellence from PC Magazine; University of Utah Distinguished Alumnus Award; Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Software Systems Award; Award for Technical Excellence from the National Graphics Association; and the first Rhode Island School of Design Distinguished Service to Art and Design International Award. In 1998, Dr. Warnock also received the Corporate Outstanding Achievement Award from the Rhode Island School of Design. Dr. Warnock is a distinguished member of the National Academy of Engineering and in November 1998 was inducted into the Computer Reseller News Hall of Fame as one of the Ten Revolutionaries of Computing. In 1999, he was inducted as an ACM fellow and in 2000 was ranked the seventh most influential graphics person of the last millennium by Graphic Exchange magazine and also was inducted into the Utah Information Technology Association. Dr. Warnock holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science, an M.S. in mathematics, a B.S. in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Utah in 1961 and an honorary degree in science from the University of Utah in 1997.
