Executive Bio
Mr. Leslie D. Kohn, also known as Les, co-founded Ambarella Corporation in 2004 and serves as its Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Kohn founded Afara Websystems and served as its Chief Technology Officer. He served as the Chief Architect of C-Cube Microsystems, where he led the development of three generations of digital video codecs, including the first single-chip MPEG-2 and HD/multi-stream codecs. Mr. Kohn was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun where he served as the Chief Architect of Sun's first two 64-bit microprocessors: the UltraSPARC I and II. In addition to these accomplishments, he served as the Chief Architect of the Intel i860 and co-Architected the National 32000 microprocessor family. He is one of the designers of i960 RISC chips, NatSemi's 320xx Swordfish and the UltraSPARC-I. He was a Fellow at Sun where he continued the development of this technology and helped throughput computing become the primary focus of Sun's roadmap for its UltraSPARC processors. Mr. Kohn holds a B.S. Degree in physics from California Institute of Technology.
