Mr. John Robert Woerner serves as the Chairman, Principal Executive Officer and President at Riversource Life Insurance Company. Mr. Woerner has been the Chief Strategy Officer of Ameriprise Financial Inc. since February 2008 and has been its President of Insurance & Annuities since September 2012. Mr. Woerner served as President of Insurance of Ameriprise Financial Inc. since February 2008. Mr. Woerner served as the Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (formerly American Express Financial Advisors) from March 16, 2005 to September 2005. He was responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic programs designed to continue to grow its business as an independent, Fortune 500 Company. Mr. Woerner joined Ameriprise Financial from McKinsey and Company, where he was a Principal and Co-Leader of the North American Asset Management, Brokerage and Wealth Management practice from 1995 to 2005. He was with McKinsey for 10 years and was elected as a Partner in 2000. While at McKinsey, he developed in-depth knowledge and experience in creating and executing financial services strategies. He has developed and implemented a range of comprehensive programs including domestic and international asset management expansion, performance improvement and retirement strategies. Mr. Woerner began his career at Goldman, Sachs as a Financial Analyst from 1991 to 1993. He holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. in Strategy and Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
