Mr. William D. McKendry, also known as Bill has been Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at Ameris Bancorp and its subsidiary Ameris Bank since October 2017. Mr. McKendry served as the Chief Enterprise Risk Officer and Executive Vice President at Bank of North Carolina since 2011. Prior to that time, he served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Auditor of First Citizens Bancshares in Raleigh, North Carolina since 2004 until 2011. He has a diverse banking background with extensive experience in risk management, auditing and financial reporting. Mr. McKendry is responsible for managing and monitoring risks and implementing appropriate strategies to mitigate those risks. He has over 25 years of experience and has held senior level risk-based positions for the last seven years. He served as an audit & consulting leader for both Wachovia and Bank One Corporation. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. Mr. McKendry holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
