Mr. Alec Machiels, J.D., MBA, is a Partner of Pegasus Capital Advisors, L.P. Mr. Machiels joined Pegasus Capital Advisors in 2002. He focuses on opportunities in the energy, commodities, marketing communications and healthcare industries. Mr. Machiels served as Vice President of Pegasus from June 2004 to May 2006 and served as its Associate from August 2002 to June 2004. He has over 17 years of private equity investing and investment banking experience. Previously, he began his career as a Financial Analyst in the Financial Services Group at Goldman Sachs International, London and Private Equity Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., New York from July 1996 to June 1999. He founded Potentia Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from July 2001 to July 2002. Mr. Machiels also co-founded Potentia Pharmaceuticals and Revon Systems. He Co-Founded Apellis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2009 and served as its Chairman. He serves as Chairman of Creative Realities, Inc. Mr. Machiels serves as Chairman of the Board at Potentia Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He has been a Director of Apellis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since September 2009. He has been an Independent Director of Molycorp, Inc. since September 2008. He is a Director at Revon Systems, LLC. He has been a Director of Traxys S.A. since January 2006. He serves as a Director at Studies, Inc., NSI, Pure Biofuels, Olympus, Molycorp Minerals, Slipstream Communications and Valogix. He has been a Director of Creative Realities, Inc. since August 2014. Mr. Machiels served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the American Federation of Arts. He served as a Director of CVR Energy, Inc. since January 12, 2005. He served as a Director of Merisant Company and Merisant Worldwide Inc. from April 2005 to 2010. He served as a Director of Coffeyville Resources, LLC from 2003 to 2005. He served as a Director of Molycorp Minerals, LLC. He won the 2001 HBS Business Plan Contest at Harvard Business School with a plan for Potentia Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Machiels received his J.D. from the University of Leuven in Belgium, B.S. and Masters in International Economics from Konstanz University and an MBA from Harvard University.
