Michael Hammer — CEO & President of Arch Reinsurance Europe Underwriting Ltd at Arch Capital Group Ltd.

Mr. Michael Hammer has been Chief Executive Officer and President at Arch Reinsurance Europe Underwriting Designated Activity Company since September 2014. Mr. Hammer served as Head, Credit & Surety of Arch Re Europe. He joined Arch Re Europe in April 2012 as a management team member of the former Ariel Re Credit & Surety team since August 2009. Mr. Hammer has over 20 years of reinsurance industry experience. He served as Head of underwriting of Arden Reinsurance Company Ltd. (Ariel Reinsurance Company Ltd). since 2009. Mr. Hammer was responsible for directing risk and analytics. From 1996 to 2009, Mr. Hammer held a variety of senior underwriting positions at Swiss Re in Zurich and London both in Credit & Surety reinsurance and corporate insurance. He also served in several underwriting positions at AIG between 1992 and 1996 in New York, Paris and Frankfurt in corporate risk financing. Mr. Hammer holds an MBA from St Gall University. He holds a Masters in Risk Management and Insurance from St. Gallen University, Switzerland.
