John F. McCool — Chief Platform Officer & Senior VP of Engineering Operations at Arista Networks

Mr. John F. McCool has been Chief Platform Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering & Operations at Arista Networks, Inc. since March 21, 2017. Mr. McCool is responsible for Arista's platforms including hardware, engineering, system test, customer and manufacturing operations. He has over 30 years of executive and networking experience, including recent roles as Senior Vice President and General Manager at EMC. He served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Firetide, Inc. since May 2013. He served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Center Switching and Services Group of Cisco Systems, Inc. and served as its Senior Vice President and General Manager of Internet Systems Business Unit. He served Cisco for 17 years. He was responsible for product management, design and development of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switches. He joined Cisco in 1996 with the acquisition of Granite Systems. He was instrumental in the development of the Cisco Catalyst 4500 product family and related technologies. Mr. McCool led network product development teams at SynOptics, NeXT Computer and Advanced Micro Devices. He has been active in creating industry standards, playing a key role in the development of dual speed 10/100BASE-T technology as part of the IEEE802.3u standard and making significant contributions to the ANSI X3T9.5 FDDI standard. He holds several patents related to network technologies. Mr. McCool as a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University.
