James O'Shaughnessy — Chief Accounting Officer, Executive Vice President and Corporate Controller at Axis Capital Holdings Limited

Mr. James O'Shaughnessy has been an Executive Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller of Axis Capital Holdings Limited since March 26, 2012. Mr. O'Shaughnessy served as Chief Financial Officer, the Bermuda operations of Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings SA since November 2008. Mr. O'Shaughnessy is responsible for group internal and external reporting as well as various finance functions and research into accounting issues at Flagstone. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings Ltd. from May 2006 to November 2008 and served as its Principal Accounting Officer. He served as Chief Financial Officer of XL Re Ltd. at XL Group plc since May 12, 2003. He served as Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President of Scottish Re Group Ltd. since May 16, 2005. Prior to that, he served for four years with Centre Solutions as Controller and Vice President. He spent a number of years with Tempest Reinsurance where his last position was Vice President of Finance and joined GTE Reinsurance in 1991 where he served as last Assistant Controller. His career began in 1986 when he served as an Audit Senior for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Ireland. Since 1989, he served as an Audit Senior for KPMG Peat Marwick in Bermuda. Mr. O'Shaughnessy received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College, Cork, Ireland and is both a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland and an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the UK.
