Ms. Deborah H. Renner is a Partner at Baker & Hostetler LLP' New York Office. Ms. Renner focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, including the defense of consumer fraud and securities class actions. Ms. Renner has successfully defended numerous companies in nationwide and state class actions, alleging common law fraud, breach of contract, violations of consumer protection statutes, RICO and ERISA. She has defeated class certification in courts around the country and has won the dismissal of class claims at the outset of numerous actions. Ms. Renner has defended insurance companies in litigation concerning increased long-term care rates, 'vanishing premiums,' as well as in other suits concerning insurance pricing. Ms. Renner was instrumental in obtaining summary judgment in a putative class action concerning alleged fraud in the pricing of long-term care insurance. Ms. Renner has successfully represented clients in complex commercial matters in bankruptcy and other courts around the country. She is also experienced in handling internal corporate investigations and has represented clients before the SEC and other regulatory bodies. Ms. Renner's pro bono work focuses on gay and lesbian rights. She also sits on the advisory board of the Brooklyn Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Project. Ms. Renner taught class action law at Fordham University Law School from 2002 to 2006. Ms. Renner holds a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University in 1984, J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1992 and M.A. from Princeton University in 1984.
