Mr. Allen D. Applbaum serves as the Managing Director at Berkeley Research Group, LLC. Mr. Applbaum served as Senior Managing Director FTI Consulting, Inc.'s International Risk and Investigations (IR&I) practice since October 16, 2006 and served as its Global Practice Leader of Grip Practice. He has more than 18 years of litigation and investigative experience. Prior to joining FTI, he served as the Head of Corporate Investigations Practice of Kroll, Inc. and Senior Managing Director and Regional Counsel in the FTI Consulting, Inc. headquarters in New York. He managed the numerous high profile investigations and business intelligence assignments, uniquely integrating investigative skills with technology and financial expertise to provide clients with seamless solutions to solve critical problems. From 1990 to 1999, he served as a Federal Prosecutor in the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of New York, where he handled a wide variety of criminal investigations and jury trials involving a broad range of criminal conduct, including organized crime, bank fraud, racketeering, mail fraud, wire fraud, extortion, drug trafficking, immigration fraud, gambling, credit card fraud and international money laundering. During his tenure in the Southern District, Mr. Applbaum served as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, where he supervised and directed investigations with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies; participated in policy making and management of the United States Attorney's Office; and served as the Office's International Affairs Coordinator in charge of all requests for international legal assistance from foreign governments. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, he served as Chief of the General Crimes Unit, responsible for the training and supervision of all new assistant United States attorneys in the Southern District in substantive and procedural aspects of the Office. He began his career as a law clerk to the Honorable Lowell A. Reed, Jr., U.S. District Judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. During his time in Philadelphia, he taught as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Temple University School of Law. For his investigative efforts in two separate organized crime prosecutions, he received the Department of Justice Director's Award for Superior Performance (1996) and the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service (1997). Mr. Applbaum is a member of the New York Bar. In 1988, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor of the Law Review. He holds BS degree from Queens College.
