Mr. Kevin Hamilton serves as Principal of Berkeley Research Group, LLC. Mr. Hamilton trained in the field of mechanical engineering, applies this analytic and process foundation to solving complex business problems for hospitals and other health care providers. His background is diverse and involves many aspects of the health care industry including operational, strategic, and regulatory and compliance consulting. He has advised clients ranging in size from small rural hospitals to large health systems with projects that have included distressed hospital turnarounds, clinical transformation as well as strategic and operational refinement for high performing clients. His Representative Experience include: Director for net revenue enhancement initiatives at a financially distressed hospital system in Northern California. Initiatives included a rapid rebuild of the Charge Description Master, multi-department charge capture work, comprehensive strategic pricing as well as renegotiation of the majority of the large managed care contracts.; Project Director for an engagement at a county hospital on the central coast of California. Specific initiatives undertaken by the project team included avoidable write-off reduction, accounts receivable reduction and cash acceleration as well as outsourced vendor management; Project Director for an end to end revenue cycle assessment for a hospital in Beirut, Lebanon. Project responsibilities included interviewing client personnel, directing the data analysis being provided by stateside resources and interacting with client executives to understand the unique needs of the hospital. Operational deficiencies were identified and specific recommendations were formulated to address identified issues; Assisted a large teaching hospital, urban trauma center, and specialty cancer research hospital in the transition of their pharmacy system from a legacy system to a cutting edge software solution. Through interviewing, determined the process implications to the clinical personnel. Additionally, analyzed the financial implications from the transition using extensive revenue modeling; Performed a comprehensive nurse-staffing project that successfully bridged the gap between the needs of the staffing director and the costs associated with maintaining staff. The study included benchmarking against best practice data. He served as a Director of Huron Consulting Group (Purchased Wellspring Partners) from 2007 to 2011. He served as Manager of Wellspring Partners from 2006 to 2007 and Protiviti, Inc from 2002 to 2006. He was a Consultant of Andersen LLP from 2001 to 2002. His Selected Publications include: Price Creep, Healthcare Financial Management Association- Northwest Outlook, in January/February / 2005, Hidden Limitations of Public Information Used in Comparative Pricing Analysis, Healthcare Financial Management Association- Northwest Outlook, in December / 2004. His Memberships and Affiliations include: Vice President and Board Secretary of FIIDO Fund, and Member of Healthcare Financial Management Association. He holds Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University in 2001.
