Christopher Smith — Executive MD and Global Head of Strategy & Corporate Development at BGC Partners

Mr. Christopher Smith serves as an Executive Managing Director at BGC Partners, Inc. and has been its Global Head of Strategy and Corporate Development since October 25, 2015. Mr. Smith served as the Head of Strategic Investments Group at BGC Partners, Inc. until October 25, 2015 and also served as its Head of Global Brokerage Rates. Mr. Smith is responsible for coordinating the BGC Partners global brokerage rates and BGC's businesses in South America and Turkey. After beginning his financial markets career at Purcell Graham brokering ECU bonds, Mr. Smith joined Cantor Fitzgerald Europe in 1987. He then ran his own executive search business focused on placing brokers and other professionals at leading financial service firms including BGC and Cantor Fitzgerald. In 1995, he moved to manage Cantor's Emerging Markets Derivatives business. He then founded his own executive search agency focused on placing brokers and other professionals at leading financial services firms, including BGC and Cantor Fitzgerald. He rejoined BGC in 2007. He has been a Director of Besso Insurance Group Limited since March 1, 2017. Mr. Smith was educated at Dulwich College and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
