BlackCamel Energy Ltd is a Nigerian producer and exporter of premium sustainable plantation teak furniture components for the nautical, marine, architectural and high-end furniture sectors. The company focuses on mature plantation-grown Tectona grandis, with emphasis on quality, traceability and responsible forest management. BlackCamel is ISO 14001:2015 certified and developed the NetZero Carbon Guilt-Free Seal to promote carbon accountability and transparency across the forest-products value chain.
BlackCamel Energy Ltd was founded in 2014 and its current CEO is Alaba Joseph Olajide. Since its inception 12 years ago, BlackCamel Energy Ltd has grown to 15 employees.
To produce and deliver premium sustainable plantation teak products through responsible forest management, quality manufacturing, transparent traceability and innovative carbon accountability, while creating lasting value for customers, communities and the environment.
To become a globally trusted leader in sustainable plantation teak and climate-conscious forest products, demonstrating that premium wood products can drive economic value while protecting natural forests and contributing to a lower-carbon future
At BlackCamel Energy Ltd, sustainability is not an operational afterthought. It is embedded in our business strategy and drives long-term value creation. As a vertically integrated Nigerian manufacturer and exporter of premium plantation teak, we build our approach on five pillars: plantation sourcing only, digital traceability and EUDR compliance, efficient FEQ manufacturing, NetZero Carbon accountability, and community development.
Traceability: Every export shipment is supported by bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates, EUDR due diligence records, traceability documentation and NetZero Carbon Guilt-Free Seal documentation. Our due diligence system covers plantation geolocation, legal harvesting verification, risk assessment and chain-of-custody records.
Governance: We maintain ethical business conduct, legal compliance and responsible procurement. We recorded zero environmental or regulatory non-compliance incidents this period.
Frameworks: We currently align with ISO 14001:2015, national forestry regulations and VSME. We are progressively working toward GRI, SASB, TNFD, CSRD, CDP, SBTi and others.
SDGs: We contribute to SDGs 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15 and 17.
Assurance: As our reporting matures, we intend to progressively pursue independent verification of selected metrics.
Targets: We will maintain 100% plantation sourcing and traceability, achieve full EUDR compliance, expand community initiatives and keep improving the Carbon Seal.
Responsible forestry: We source 100% of our timber from responsibly managed commercial plantations, and none from natural or primary forests. Our selective harvesting protects biodiversity, minimizes soil disturbance and safeguards water resources. Every harvest is followed by structured replanting for long-term regeneration and carbon sequestration.
Biodiversity: We focus on conserving ecosystems, protecting wildlife habitats, conserving soil, managing water sustainably and stewarding land responsibly.
Climate action: Our proprietary NetZero Carbon Guilt-Free Seal monitors and improves environmental performance across the product life cycle in four phases:
- Harvesting: fuel consumption, forest operations and immediate site rehabilitation
- Processing: factory operations, sawing efficiency, material recovery and biomass utilization
- Inland transport: plantation to factory to export port, with transportation optimization
- International shipping: export logistics, balanced by continuous plantation growth and long-term carbon sequestration
Product quality: Our FEQ teak has no pith, no sapwood and no significant defects, and is produced with precision cutting and premium grading. This naturally gives lower recovery rates than conventional timber. It reflects our commitment to quality over quantity, and we aim to improve recovery through advanced manufacturing technology.
Performance: Zero natural forest harvesting and zero environmental non-compliance incidents.
We contribute to the communities around us through our community development programme:
- Employment creation
- Sustainable forestry education
- Community electrification projects
- Clean water initiatives
- Renewable energy development
- Women's empowerment programmes
- Local economic development
For our employees, we commit to safe working conditions, skills and professional development, fair employment practices, equal opportunity, and occupational health and safety.
Our community initiatives are ongoing, and our target is continued expansion. Looking ahead, we will expand community renewable energy initiatives and support sustainable forestry education.
