Mr. Jerry W. Powell has been Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Cadence Bancorporation since 2011 and its predecessor, Cadence Financial Corporation. Mr. Powell has been an Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Cadence Bank N.A since 2011. He has been Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Cadence Bancorp, LLC since July 2011 and serves as its Secretary. He serves as Special counsel of Banking & Financial Services Practice Group at Jones Walker LLP (alternate name, Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carr???re & Den???gre, L.L.P.). Mr. Powell has been a General Counsel of Superior Bank FSB (Series 1998-4) since 2011. Mr. Powell serves as the President of Compass Asset Acceptance Company L.L.C. He served as General Counsel of Superior Bank, National Association since July 2011. He served as an Assistant Secretary at St. Johns Investment Management Company. Mr. Powell served as the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Secretary of Compass Bank since 1986 a position he held for more than 25 years and BBVA Compass Bancshares, Inc. since 1991. Mr. Powell served as a General Counsel and Secretary of BBVA USA Bancshares, Inc. since 1991. He serves as a Director of Compass Asset Acceptance Company LLC. Mr. Powell serves as the President of the Board of Directors of AIDS Alabama, a nonprofit corporation providing housing and support services to the HIV/AIDS-infected community. He was a lawyer at a general-practice firm in Birmingham, with an emphasis on litigation, creditor's rights and consumer compliance. He served as a Director of St. Johns Investment Management Company. He was a founding director of Magic Moments, an organization dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of terminally ill children. He also serves Birmingham-Southern College as a member of the President's Advisory Council as well as the University of Alabama School of Law as a member of the Farrah Law Society's Board of Trustees. Mr. Powell is a member of the American Bar Association and the Alabama Bar Association. Mr. Powell holds BA in Political Science and JD from the Birmingham-Southern College and University of Alabama School of Law, with honors respectively.
