Mr. Jeffrey Scott Stein has been Chief Investment Officer of Westmoreland Coal Company since October 19, 2017. Mr. Stein co-founded Power Capital Partners LLC in 2011 and serves as its Managing Partner and Executive Director. Mr. Stein is the Founder and Managing Partner of Stein Advisors LLC. Mr. Stein is also Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Power Capital Advisors LLC. Mr. Stein is an Investment Professional with over 21 years of experience. Mr. Stein is an experienced leader with a successful track record in the identification, evaluation and management of value-oriented and event- driven investments across a broad universe of industries and throughout every category of the capital structure. Mr. Stein was the Founder and Principal of Durham Asset Management L.L.C. He served as a Director of The Delaware Bay Company, Inc., where he was responsible for identifying and evaluating distressed investment opportunities in the energy, financial services, merchant power, retail, real estate and utility industries. He joined the Delaware Bay Company, Inc. as an Analyst in 1997 and transitioned to fund management with the inception of Durham Asset Management L.L.C. in 2002. From January 2003 to December 2009, Mr. Stein served as the Co-Director of Research at Durham and was responsible for the identification, evaluation and management of investments for the various Durham portfolios. He began his career in 1991 at Shearson Lehman Brothers in the Capital Preservation & Restructuring Group, where he was responsible for providing fundamental research and investment recommendations for real estate, cable television and equipment leasing limited partnerships. He performed financial advisory services on behalf of limited partners for partnerships experiencing financial distress and/or engaged in restructurings. He has been Chairman of Ambac Assurance Corporation since March 2016. He has been the Chairman of Ambac Financial Group, Inc. since January 1, 2015 and has been its Independent Non-Executive Director since May 1, 2013. He serves as Board Observer of Torm Plc since November 2015. He has been an Independent Director of Westmoreland Coal Company since August 9, 2016. He has been a Director of Ambac Assurance Corporation since May 1, 2013. Mr. Stein serves as a Director of MLR Petroleum LLC, Granite Ridge Holdings, LLC and Granite Ridge Energy, LLC. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director at Dynegy Inc. since October 1, 2012 and KGen Power LLC since May 2008. Mr. Stein previously served as a Director of US Power Generating Company. He served as Board Observer at TORM A/S since November 16, 2015. Mr. Stein served as a Director of KGen Power Corporation from May 2, 2008 to November 26, 2008. He has been actively involved in the hedging, refinancing, restructuring and sale of various power assets. Mr. Stein received an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from New York University and a B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University.
