Executive Bio

Mr. David A. Karp serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. and served as its Principal Accounting Officer and Treasurer until October 28, 2014. Mr. Karp joined Empire State Realty Trust predecessor in November 2011 and is responsible for Empire State Realty Trust finance, capital markets, investor relations and administration. Mr. Karp served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Forum Partners Investment Management LLC from February 2006 to February 2011 and Chief Operating Officer from February 2009 to February 2011, where he was responsible for both firm-level and fund-level financial management and strategy, including risk management, treasury, foreign exchange and interest rate hedging, budgeting and debt financing. Mr. Karp has a 27-year career in real estate investment, finance and management. From January 1996 to August 2005, Mr. Karp served as President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Falcon Financial Investment Trust. Previously, he co-founded Falcon Financial Investment Trust. Mr. Karp served as Senior Vice President at Reichmann International, where he led the acquisition activities on behalf of Quantum Realty Partners. He was a Principal at The Yarmouth Group. He served on the Investment Committee, led the Finance department and was instrumental in establishing the firm's Restructuring and Workout Advisory Services Group. Prior to that, Mr. Karp served as Vice President of Salomon Brothers Inc., where he invested the firm's capital in commercial real estate. He began his professional career at CitiCorp. Real Estate Inc. He serves as a Trustee of Falcon Financial Investment Trust. Mr. Karp has an MBA in Finance and Real estate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
