Professional Background

Mr. Mark E. Chertok has been a Senior Managing Director of FTI Consulting, Inc. since November, 2008. Mr. Chertok has been a Senior Managing Director of Financial Outsourcing Group at Cornerstone Accounting Group LLP since January 2004. Mr. Chertok served as the Chief Financial Officer of ACRE Realty Investors Inc. since January 31, 2015. Mr. Chertok served as Senior Managing Director of FTI Schonbraun McCann Group. He served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Northstar Realty Finance Corp. from January 2004 to April 2006 and served as its Principal Accounting Officer until April 2006. He served as Chief Financial Officer of NorthStar Capital from January 2004 to April 2006. From April 2003 to December 2003, Mr. Chertok was an Independent Consultant at NorthStar Capital, Emmes and Company LLC and an unaffiliated third party. From April 1998 to March 31, 2003, Mr. Chertok served as Chief Financial Officer and a Principal of Emmes and Company LLC, Emmes Asset Management Co. LLC and their affiliates. Mr. Chertok was a Partner of Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP and was involved in all aspects of client service including accounting, tax and management advisory services, with a specialization in providing services to the real estate industry. Prior to this he served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the El-Ad Group in New York, a fully-integrated real estate company. Mr. Chertok is a well-known expert in the real estate industry. Mr. Chertok has over 20 years of experience in forensic accounting and real estate partnership dispute issues. Most recently, Mr. Chertok led an engagement for a large investment bank regarding computations of distributions from a series of real estate funds, foreign tax payments made by those funds and assessment of the bank's underlying internal controls regarding these processes. He has over 30 years of experience within the domestic and international real estate and financial services industries and is widely regarded for has expertise in outsourcing, crisis management, investigations and forensic analysis, real estate finance, IPOs, M&A and due diligence. Mr. Chertok also has extensive experience working-out complex defaulted real estate loans. Mr. Chertok was an Independent Financial Consultant with such companies as Petra Capital, Ruben Companies, Ladder Capital Finance and MUUS Asset Management. Mr. Chertok is a Member the FTI's Real Estate Advisory Group and directs the Financial Outsourcing practice. Mr. Chertok started his career at Laventhol and Horwath in 1978. Mr. Chertok is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and is also a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Chertok graduated from New York University and holds a B.S. in Accounting.
