Dr. Frederic G. Pla, Ph.D. serves as Vice President and General Manager of Transplant Diagnostics at Invitrogen Corporation. Dr. Pla has been the Chief Business & Product Development Officer of Genomic Health Inc. since January 1, 2015. Over the last 25 years, he has built and launched global businesses in medical diagnostics and devices, life sciences and healthcare information technology, consistently delivering high growth and profitability through a blend of product innovation, strategic acquisitions and successful turnarounds. Before joining Genomic Health, Dr. Pla served as the Vice President of Corporate Business Development for Life Technologies until its acquisition by Thermo Fisher in 2014. He joined Life Technologies in 2005 as Vice President and General Manager of the Diagnostics Business, responsible for product development and manufacturing facilities in the US, UK and China. Prior to joining Life Technologies, Dr. Pla held global managerial positions of increasing responsibilities at GE Healthcare, including General Manager for the Cardiology IT and Enterprise IT businesses, where he contributed to the formation and growth of GE's $2.4 billion Healthcare IT business; and Digital X-Ray Marketing, where he led the introduction of GE's revolutionary digital X-Ray detector technology. He started his career in R&D, first at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH and then at GE's Global Research Center in Schenectady, NY. Dr. Pla serves as a Director of Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Device Association. He is fluent in French. He holds 23 U.S. patents, a Ph.D. in Acoustics from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master's Degree from The University of Southampton, UK and an Engineering Degree from the University of Technology of Compiegne, France.
