Mr. Richard M. Rantala, also known as Rich, has been Senior Vice President of Business Development of Granite Construction Incorporated since June 15, 2015. Mr. Rantala is responsible for leading all aspects of Granite Construction's business development and sales efforts for the Transportation, Water, Federal, Oil & Gas, Commercial & Industrial, Mining and Rail end markets. He served as Vice President of National Business Acquisition at Balfour Beatty Construction LLC and served as its Senior Vice President Of Business Acquisition - Charlotte. Mr. Rantala served as Vice President of Business Enhancement Practices at Balfour Beatty Construction LLC. Mr. Rantala joined Balfour Beatty in 1990 as Vice President of Business Development in Nashville. In 1993, he moved to Dallas to implement a national healthcare sales strategy designed to combine Balfour Beatty's healthcare resources and served in this role until 1996. He served Chief Executive Officer & President of North American Operations for a Norwegian based construction company with offices in Tampa, FL from 1996 to 2000. Mr. Rantala rejoined Balfour Beatty in 2000 to help start Southeast Division serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Since then he worked closely on companywide initiatives including MAP and GPS leading to recent move focusing on business enhancement practices at company level for initiatives including Go Green, BIM and ZERO HARM. Mr. Rantala holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Ohio University.
