Executive Bio

Mr. John Matthew Eggemeyer, III Co-founded Castle Creek Capital LLC in 1995 and serves as its Managing Principal and Chief Executive. Since its founding, Castle Creek Capital has formed six private equity funds to invest in community banks. Funds I, II and III are no longer active. Mr. Eggemeyer also founded Castle Creek Financial LLC (1994-2014). Mr. Eggemeyer began his banking career at The First National Bank of Chicago (1968-77), where he spent over nine years primarily in commercial lending activities. He spent four years at Norwest Bancorporation (1977-81), where he served as Treasurer, Comptroller and later Senior Vice President of Finance. He served as the Director of Corporate Finance at Chemical Bank (1981-82) and as the President of First National Holdings, renamed Intrawest Financial (1982-84), turning it around for sale. He served as an Executive Vice President at the First Bank System Inc. and as the President of First Trust Company, Inc. (1984-87), before moving to Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc. (1987-89), where he established a restructuring group focused on financial institutions. He served as a Director of TCF Financial Corporation from 1994 to April 2006 and Western BanCorp. (1997-99). He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Union Acceptance Corp. (UAC) from August 2003 to August 2005 and served as its Non-Executive Chairman from October 2000 to August 2005 and Director since October 2000. Union Acceptance acquired Coastal Credit LLC in 2005 and changed its name to White River Capital Inc. where he served as Chairman and CEO until the company sold in 2016. He founded Guaranty Bancorp. (formerly Centennial Bancorp) and served as its Chairman from April 2004 to July 2010 and Chief Executive Officer from April 2004 to May 2006. He has been a Director of Name: The Bancorp, Inc. since August 2016. He served as a Trustee of American Financial Realty Trust from April 2003 to October 10, 2005. Castle Creek Capital Fund I was an investor of First Chicago Bancorp, Inc. (2005-2010). He served as a Director and Member of the Advisory Council of Affinity Financial Corporation. In 2006, he was named Community Banker of the Year by American Banker. He served as a Director of Heritage Commerce Corp. and its subsidiary Heritage Bank of Commerce from August 26, 2010 until December 15, 2016. He was a Non-Voting Observer at The Bancorp Inc. from August 2016 to December 2016 and now serves as a Director. He was a founder of The Rancho Santa Fe Community School Endowment and served as its President. He was the President of the Rancho Santa Fe Board of Governors. He serves as a Life Trustee of Northwestern University and The Bishop's School in La Jolla, California. He served as a Director of Offroad Capital Corporation. He served as a Member of Parent Advisory Board at Stanford University. Mr. Eggemeyer has over 40 years of experience in the banking industry and has been involved in more than 75 bank acquisitions. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University.
