Swaroop Aradhya Ph.D., F.A.C.M.G. — Head of Medical Affairs at Invitae Corporation

Dr. Swaroop Aradhya, Ph.D., F.A.C.M.G., has been Head of Medical Affairs at Invitae Corporation since February 4,2017. Dr. Aradhya joined Invitae to help genetics into mainstream medicine by innovating laboratory technologies, fostering advances in evidence-based clinical standards and building mechanisms to empower individuals globally to access their genetic information. Before Invitae, Dr. Aradhya was senior laboratory director for Neurogenetics and Clinical Microarrays at GeneDx. Dr. Aradhya was a Principal, Vice President and Director of Clinical Microarray Services at GeneDx, Inc. Dr. Aradhya has been in the field of medical genetics since 1994 when he trained at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NIH). He specializes in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Clinical Cytogenetics with an emphasis on microarray-based diagnostics. Dr. Aradhya is a board-certified molecular geneticist and cytogeneticist who has helped shape professional practices and technology applications in clinical genetic testing over the past 15 years. He is a ClinGen investigator, serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and is an adjunct clinical associate professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. Over the course of his career, he has participated in the international Human Genome Project to sequence the X chromosome and helped characterize several genetic disorders. Prior to joining GeneDx, Dr. Aradhya completed his American Board of Medical Genetics training program in 2007 at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. He earned his Ph.D. in molecular and human genetics in 2001 at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
