Dr. Mark G. Currie, Ph.D, has been the Chief Scientific Officer, Senior Vice President and President of Research & Development at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since February 11, 2013. Mr. Currie served as Vice President of Research & Development of Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since joining in September 2002. Prior to Microbia, he directed cardiovascular and central nervous system disease research as vice president of discovery research at Sepracor. Previously, Mr. Currie initiated, built and led discovery pharmacology and also served as Director of arthritis and inflammation at Monsanto/Searle. Mr. Currie earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of South Alabama and holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University.
