Mr. Terence G. Banich has been employed at Jenner & Block LLP in the position of a Partner since January 2007. He is a partner in the Chicago office. He is a member of the Firm's Litigation Department and its Business Litigation, Bankruptcy, Workout and Corporate Reorganization, Construction Law, and Commercial Law and Uniform Commercial Code Practices. Mr. Banich has assisted in the defense of a wide variety of clients, including elected public officials, a pharmaceutical manufacturer and some of its executives as well as a major defense contractor in grand jury investigations, federal criminal trials and qui tam litigation. In the area of construction law, Mr. Banich has represented owners, contractors and subcontractors in mechanics lien, surety bond and contract disputes. In the area of commercial law, Mr. Banich has advised clients regarding disputes and/or business practices involving the Sales article of Uniform Commercial Code. Mr. Banich has also co-authored the Supplements to West Publishing's Uniform Laws Annotated, Volume 4, Uniform Commercial Code Forms and Materials, Articles 1 to 7 as well as West Publishing's Illinois Practice, Volume 1, Uniform Commercial Code Forms Annotated. In December 2002, Mr. Banich gave a presentation regarding the U.N. Convention on the International Sales of Goods as part of Lorman Educations Services' Purchasing Law in Illinois seminar. Mr. Banich is a member of the American Bar Association Business Law Section, the Illinois State Bar Association Business Law Section and the State Bar of California Business Law Section. Mr. Banich has focused his health care practice on fraud and abuse compliance and defense as well as issues related to managed care/health insurers. For example, Mr. Banich has represented a major health maintenance organization in connection with a regulatory compliance audit. Mr. Banich has also assisted in the defense of a large pharmaceutical manufacturer and its executives as a part of a federal grand jury investigation into allegations of Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse. Mr. Banich is a member of the following bar associations and professional organizations: American Bankruptcy Institute, American Bar Association, State Bar of California, Illinois State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar, Chicago Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Chicago Inn of Court, American Federation of Musicians and Chicago Federation of Musicians, Local 10-208. Mr. Banich received his J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago in 1999 and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego in 1996. During law school, Mr. Banich clerked for two distinguished judges of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois: the Honorable Thomas R. Fitzgerald, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division (1997-98) and the Honorable Richard E. Neville, a Circuit Judge assigned to the Law Division, Commercial Calendar Section (1998-99).
