Richard A. Carruthers — President of Carolinas Operations at KB Home

Mr. Richard A. Carruthers, also known as Rick, has been Regional President for Southeast at Century Communities, Inc. since February 2017. Mr. Carruthers is responsible for all operations in the southeast, including divisions in Atlanta and Charlotte as well as spearheading expansion efforts in that region at Century Communities. He served as Executive Vice President of Century Communities from November 2014 to February 2017. Mr. Carruthers served as the Chief Executive Officer of Peachtree Communities Group, Inc. since November 2014. Over the course of 35 years, Mr. Carruthers's knowledge of finance and residential development and construction, his grasp of markets and trends and his knack for strategic planning and forecasting have significantly contributed to the success of several of the housing industry's most accomplished public and private companies. Mr. Carruthers has more than 35 years of experience in the homebuilding industry. Prior to his tenure at Century/Peachtree, Mr. Carruthers served two terms with KB Home from August 2002 to October 2013, most recently as Regional Vice President of Operations. He is known throughout the United States as a talented real estate executive experienced in start-ups, turnarounds and growth ventures. He has skillfully managed multi-state developer/builder organizations with major communities encompassing up to 4,000 homes annually and staffs numbering more than 350 people. He served as the President of Carolinas Operations at KB Home and its Executive Vice President of East Region. His tenure at KB Home was marked by consistent organizational performance at levels meeting or exceeding corporate objectives. As Regional General Manager, Florida, he led five divisions that generated $1.1 billion in annual revenue, while recording a customer satisfaction rating of 97%. In his career, he also has held leadership positions at John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods as President of Atlanta Homebuilding; Atlantic Homes of Florida as General Partner; Hooker Barnes Homes as Division President; and U.S. Home as Division President. Through his varied experience with several major housing companies under every economic condition, he has developed expertise in all industry disciplines as well as a vision of housing's future and the path to it. Mr. Carruthers's education has emphasized business and management. Mr. Carruthers received a B.S. in Business from Excelsior College and an M.B.A. From Georgia Southern University.
