Kenneth B. Mehlman J.D. — Partner, Member and Global Head of Public Affairs at KKR & Co. L.P.

Mr. Kenneth B. Mehlman, also known as Ken, J.D., has been the Member and Global Head of Public Affairs at KKR & Co. L.P. since April 2008 and also serves as its Partner. Mr. Mehlman is a part of the KKR Global Institute team. He joined KKR on April 17, 2008 and served as its Managing Director since April 2008. He helps KKR assess and improve the companies in which it invests by better understanding and managing geopolitical risk and engaging with their key stakeholders. Mr. Mehlman also oversees KKR's global external affairs activities, including corporate marketing, regulatory affairs and public policy & communications. He leads KKR's Environmental Social Governance (ESG) programs for it and its portfolio companies. Before joining KKR, Mr. Mehlman led a bipartisan public policy and regulatory practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where he served as a Partner. Mr. Mehlman was the Political Director during President George W. Bush's first term. Mr. Mehlman spent a dozen years in national politics and government service, including the Campaign Manager of President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign as well as in high level positions in Congress and the White House. He previously served in high-level positions on Capitol Hill and the White House. He serves as a Director at the National Endowment for Democracy Inc. He has been a Director of Resource Environmental Solutions since June 27, 2016. He serves as a Trustee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Mt. Sinai Hospital of New York, Franklin & Marshall College, Sponsors of Educational Opportunity, and the Strong American Schools Foundation. He is the Chairman of Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Policy Advisory Board and also chairs the Board of Directors of The American Investment Council. Mr. Mehlman is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and also serves on the Council on Foreign Relations Climate Change Task Force, is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Co-Chairman of the American Enterprise Institute's National Council, serves on the Robin Hood Veterans Advisory Board, is a Member of the Boards of Directors at the American Foundation for Equal Rights and the Ideal School of Manhattan, and serves on Executive Leadership Cabinet of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Foundation. He received a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1991 and a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College in 1988.
