Timothy R. Franks — Member, Head of EMEA Consumer & Retail and Head of UK at KKR & Co. L.P.

Mr. Timothy R. Franks, also known as Tim, is a Member of KKR & Co. L.P. since February 01, 2017. Mr. Franks serves as Head of EMEA Consumer & Retail and Head of UK at KKR & Co. L.P. He serves within KKR's Private Equity platform. He also leads the development of KKR's activities in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He joined the firm in 2017. He served as a Managing Director at Advent International Corporation until June 30, 2016 and also served as a Partner and Head of the European Retail, Consumer and Leisure team. He also led the launch of Advent's office in New York between 2010 and 2013 and whilst there built up the firm's North American Technology practice. At Advent he was involved in more than 13 transactions over a 17 year period. He focused on retail, consumer and technology transactions at Advent. Mr. Franks joined the firm in 1999. He focused on buyouts globally and investments in consumer and leisure and retail sectors in Europe. He covered investments in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. Mr. Franks coordinated the internal debt group within Advent. In 2010, he moved to open and led Advent's New York office till 2013. Previously, Mr. Franks was at the Investment Banking Division of Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to that, he worked in the Project Finance Group at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Australia Ltd. He serves as a Director of SSI Investments III Ltd. He served as a Director of Poundland Ltd and Fat Face Group Ltd. Mr. Franks has more than 17 years' investing experience in both Europe and North America and has been involved in a number of high-profile investments. He holds an M.A. from Cambridge University, where Mr. Franks was awarded the Dr. Herchel Smith Scholarship for continued study at Harvard University. At Harvard, he also received a Master's of Public Policy focusing on International Finance and Development from the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
