Mr. Thomas Jay Leanse, also known as Tom, Esq. has been the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary at The Macerich Company since October 01, 2012 and is responsible for legal policy and to see that all legal and risk management affairs are properly handled through effective management of the Legal Department. Mr. Leanse has been Senior Executive Vice President at The Macerich Company since September 01, 2012. From 1992 to 2012, he was a Partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. He was a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Pepper Hamilton & Scheetz from 1987 to 1992 after having been an associate and then a partner at in the Long Beach office of Ball, Hunt, Hart, Brown and Baerwitz. He serves as a Director of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He graduated in UC San Diego in 1975 with a B.A. degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics and graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1978.
