Executive Bio

Mr. Michael Rodger Buttshaw, also known as Mike, has been Vice President of Ingredients Sales and Marketing of MGP Ingredients, Inc. since December 02, 2014. Mr. Buttshaw served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Penford Food Ingredients Company since June 2010. Mr. Buttshaw has spent his career in the food and food ingredients industries. He joined Penford from DSM Food Specialties, where he served as Vice President, sales. He spent four years as Vice President of sales for the ingredient group at Southeastern Mills, Inc. He was also responsible for the successful cultivation and establishment of key relationships with numerous multi-national branded companies across the food industry. From 1985 to 2008, he was employed with Hormel. Mr. Buttshaw began there as a process engineer in quality assurance and later served in a series of technical and management positions at various locations in the U.S. In 1999, he was promoted to national sales and marketing manager for Hormel's specialty products division. He has nearly 30 years of food industry experience. He possesses expertise in building profitable and sustainable sales and marketing platforms, along with strong technical knowledge in cereal grain science. Prior to DSM, he spent more than 23 years at Hormel Foods, where he progressed through regional sales positions to national sales and marketing manager for the Specialty Products Division, a diverse portfolio of specialty ingredients. Mr. Buttshaw is an active member of key industry and professional organizations, including the Institute of Food Technologists and Research Chef's Association. He has been a presenter for various industry events, including the Prepared Foods' Research and Development Summit and the Dairy Innovation Summit. He received a bachelor of arts degree in education with an emphasis in mathematics from Gustavas Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn., in 1985 and a MMI in management and marketing from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, Minneapolis, in 2002. He also completed executive training at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.
