MicroCoal focuses on providing clean-coal upgrading technology that reduces contaminants in coal resulting in upgraded energy content.
MicroCoal Technologies Inc. (“MTI” or the “Company”) is the developer of a patented microwave dehydration process that allows coal fired utilities to drastically reduce polluting emissions and increase annual profits by unlocking the energy potential of high moisture, low-rank coal. The MicroCoal® dehydration process removes surface and internal moisture from low rank coal while at the same time preserving its low-polluting characteristics, transforming it into a high-energy feedstock suitable for power generation. The result is an upgraded coal product that is environmentally superior and less expensive than available high rank coals in the International market. The MicroCoal® provides significant financial benefits to coal-fired electrical generating utilities, including: large cost savings from switching to low-rank coal, substantial increases in boiler efficiencies and heat output, improved ash efficiencies and reductions in scrubber cost, and the production of millions of liters of clean, agriculture-grade water per year during the dehydration process.
