Ms. Ann Marie Painter serves as a Partner in Labor and Employment Practice at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Ms. Painter focuses her practice on defending employers in employment litigation matters, including wage and hour compliance, all categories of alleged discrimination and harassment and retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, retaliation, and unfair competition. She has a background in both FLSA and state wage and hour collective and class actions. She regularly litigates in state and federal courts, having made appearances on behalf of clients in more than 10 states, including California, and participates in mediations before the some of the nation's best alternative dispute resolution practitioners. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, she was an Employment Partner at a leading international law firm. Ms. Painter also regularly counsels employers in employment matters, including wage and hour audits, reductions in force, noncompete issues, privacy concerns, individual employee terminations, disability accommodation matters, WARN, FMLA, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Texas Commission on Human Rights agency charges. In addition, she has worked with many clients in the development and implementation of strategies and policies to effectuate corporate business goals for transitioning and restructuring. Ms. Painter is an Active Member of Attorneys Serving the Community, serves on the Board of Directors for the Vogel Alcove, is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, served as Chair of the 2006 DBA Speaker's Committee, and was recently appointed Co-chair of the ABA Litigation Section Employment & Labor Relations Law Committee. Her honors and Affiliations include Co-chair of American Bar Association, Employment and Labor Relations Committee, Litigation Section. She was named One of the State's 'Rising Stars' by Texas Monthly (2005) and One of the 'Best Lawyers in Dallas Under 40' by D Magazine (2006). She was listed, Texas Monthly l'Super Lawyer' (2006). She is a Member, Dallas Bar Association, Employment Law Section, Texas Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section and Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals. Ms. Painter writes and lectures on labor and employment subjects and is an Editorial Board Member for the Family and Medical Leave Handbook, published by Thompson Publishing Company. Ms. Painter received her J.D., with high honors, from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1992, and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Carson-Newman College in 1988.
