Charles W. Bishop Ph.D. — Chief Executive Officer of OPKO Renal at Opko Health

Dr. Charles W. Bishop, PhD, has been Chief Executive Officer of OPKO Renal at Opko Health, Inc. since March 2013. Dr. Bishop has over 24 years of management experience in the pharmaceutical industry across multiple disciplines including Research & Development, Regulatory Affairs, Operations and Business Development. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Cytochroma, Inc. since June 2006. He co-founded Proventiv Therapeutics LLC in September 2005 and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. From September 1987 to June 2005, Dr. Bishop served various senior management positions at Bone Care International Inc., including Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer since April 25, 2005. He was responsible for the successful preparation and prosecution of three New Drug Applications (Nads). Dr. Bishop rejoined Bone Care from his private Pharmaceutical Consulting Practice. He served at Bone Care as Project Director from 1987 to 1990, Vice President from 1990 to 1996, President and Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to 2001 and Executive Vice President of Research and Development from 2001 to January 2002. Prior to joining Bone Care, he held various management positions in the Health Care Division of the Procter & Gamble Company, where he worked as its Group Leader. Dr. Bishop serves as a Member of Life Sciences Advisory Board at VG Partners. He serves as a Director of Receptor Therapeutics Inc. He served as a Director of Bone Care from 1989 to 2001. He served as a Director of Cytochroma, Inc. Dr. Bishop completed a four-year National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellowship in Vitamin D Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received his Ph.D. degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and earned an Undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia.
