Executive Bio

Mr. Matt Christensen has been Senior Managing Director of Commercial Banking - Northern California at Opus Bank since December 2014. Mr. Christensen served as Senior Vice President and San Francisco Regional Manager of Bridge Bank at Bridge Bancorp, Inc. since June 2013 until June 2014. Mr. Christensen is responsible for growing the portfolios of the bank's Corporate Banking, Capital Finance (asset based lending and factoring), and Technology Banking lines of business and provided regional management of the Technology Banking, Corporate Banking and Asset-based Lending teams. Mr. Christensen served as Senior Vice President and Regional Manager- San Francisco at Bridge Capital Holdings. Mr. Christensen served as Senior Vice President and Manager of Commercial Banking Services at San Francisco of City National Bank since April 6, 2011 until June 2013, where he managed teams responsible for expanding client relationships with middle market businesses and corporations and originating working capital facilities and asset-based and commercial real estate loans. He was responsible for developing new client relationships with mid-sized companies in the San Francisco area and matching their financial needs with solutions from City National. He is a well-known banking professional who has worked in the financial services industry in San Francisco for nearly 30 years. He served as a Senior Vice President and Client Manager with Bank of America Merrill Lynch from August 2009 to December 2010, where he was responsible for directing the underwriting and treasury teams managing a $250 million portfolio comprised of commercial and industrial, leveraged finance, asset-based and commercial real estate loans. He served as a Director and Team Leader for Merrill Lynch & Co. from April 2007 to May 2009. Mr. Christensen was with GE Capital for over 10 years including senior vice president of the Retail Finance Group from October 2002 to April 2007, managing director in the Sponsor Finance group, Managing Director from July 2000 to August 2002 and Senior Vice President and Team Leader in the Corporate Lending group. He served as a Senior Vice President at GE Commercial Finance. He served as a Vice President in business development roles with Sanwa Bank; Union Bank, formerly California First Bank; and Security Pacific Corporation. He began his banking career in 1983 with Union Bank where he originated, underwrote and managed relationships with middle market companies. He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, Turnaround Management Association and Commercial Finance Association. He is a graduate of the GE Executive Development program. Mr. Christensen received his BA degree in Business Economics in the University of California at Los Angeles from 1981 to 1983.
