Sergey V. Agafonkin — Director of Merchant Banking Division at Opus Bank

Mr. Sergey V. Agafonkin has been a Director of Merchant Banking Division at Opus Bank since April 15, 2015 and served as its Head of Industrials Group. Prior to joining Opus Bank, Mr. Agafonkin served as Vice President in the Investment Banking Division at William Blair & Company, LLC and specialized in providing M&A advisory and execution services across numerous services, industrial and consumer subsectors. From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Agafonkin served as an Assistant Chief Financial Officer with a Citicorp Venture Capital portfolio company, where he designed and implemented financial capabilities for global operations and provided analysis for the restructuring of outstanding debt, acquisition of largest competitor and the disposition of it through a sale to a private equity firm. Mr. Agafonkin served as Chief Financial Officer of Diversified Energy Corporation from 2006 to 2008. Mr. Agafonkin was responsible for oversight and management of Diversified Energy's entire financial operations, investor relations, regulatory affairs and business infrastructure development. Mr. Agafonkin began his career as a Financial Analyst with TRW Corporation. Previously, he served at TRW Automotive where, over a period of six years, he held a variety of positions with a wide spectrum of increasing responsibilities pertaining to corporate financial management, planning and analysis, accounting, audit and tax compliance, financial and operational best practices and financial rules and procedures. Mr. Agafonkin has participated in a number of successful small business ventures in the healthcare benefits and construction industries. From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Agafonkin served as a Director of Diversified Energy Corporation. Mr. Agafonkin has over 15 years of investment banking and operating experience with private equity backed portfolio companies. Mr. Agafonkin holds BS in Finance and MBA from Arizona State University.
