Executive Bio

Dr. Christopher J. Progler, PhD., has been the Chief Technology Officer and Strategic Planning of Photronics Inc. since March 22, 2004 and has been its Vice President since 2004. Dr. Progler manages its intellectual property, establishing strategies for future intellectual property development, identifying external partnerships, which complement Photronics' core technical position and new technology driven market opportunities. He serves as Vice President of Photronics. During the course of his 16-year career in the semiconductor industry, his work in the areas of R&D and manufacturing process integration has yielded significant advancements at leading semiconductor companies including IBM, Texas Instruments and ST Microelectronics. He served as Manager of Advanced Imaging and Technology Computer Aided Design at the IBM Semiconductor R&D Center in East Fishkill, New York. At IBM, his team developed innovative imaging methods, computation tools and characterization techniques required to support IBM's aggressive lithography roadmap. He has served as the Chairman of SPIE Conference on Optical Lithography and co-founded SPIE's Advanced Microelectronic Manufacturing Symposium. He serves as a Director of Inpria Corporation. He served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Cymer, Inc. from April 10, 2008 to May 30, 2013. He organized and Co-Chairing a new SPIE sponsored microlithography conference to be held with Photonics Asia in Beijing China in 2008. In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor for SPIE's Journal of Microlithography, Microfabrication and Microsystems and is under contract for a microlithography book edition. He has authored more than 70 papers and patents in lithography, optics and microfabrication. He is Visiting Lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas teaching graduate-level courses in optics and lithography and mentors research students at multiple universities. He is a Frequent Invited Speaker at industry events and serves on a number of industry advisory committees. He is recognized throughout the industry for his contributions to the lithographic sciences and in 2004, was elected a Fellow of SPIE - The International Society of Optical Engineering. His contributions to SPIE technical programs are indeed noteworthy. Dr. Progler received both his Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Optics from the University of Rochester Institute of Optics. He received PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas with an emphasis on non-linear optimization linked to physical processes.
