Cameron Geoffrey McDonough — Advisor at PTC Therapeutics

Dr. Cameron Geoffrey McDonough, also known as Geoff, M.D., is President, Director and Chief Executive Officer at Generation Bio Co. Dr. McDonough has been an Advisor of PTC Therapeutics, Inc. since September 18, 2017. Dr. McDonough served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi) since August 15, 2011 until May 22, 2017. He had been with Sobi since August 2011. He also held several senior leadership positions at Genzyme Corporation from 2002 to 2011 including as its President of Organization in Europe since May 2010 and demonstrated strong leadership of its Personalized Genetic Health business during a challenging period. While at Genzyme, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Personalized Genetic Health and Senior Vice President of Lysosomal Storage Disease (LSD) Therapeutics. Dr. McDonough has more than 13 years of leadership experience in rare and genetic disorders. He spent nearly a decade at Genzyme, now part of Sanofi, where he led the rare genetic disease business unit and subsequently served as President of Europe, Middle East and Africa with operations in 55 countries and a portfolio of 15 leading biotechnology and specialty products. He was a physician in the U.S., and also has experience as a medical technology entrepreneur. He Co-founded Catalyst Medical Solutions, a developer of software for hospital revenue, medical documentation and compliance management and served as is President. He served as an Adviser to RA Capital Management and was a practicing internist and pediatrician. He has been an Independent Director of Zafgen Inc. since September 24, 2015. He served as a Director of PTC Therapeutics, Inc. from November 2012 to September 18, 2017. Dr. McDonough received his Medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a B.Sc. in Biology and a B.A. in Philosophy, both summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital.
