Dr. Allan Steven Jacobson, Ph.D. is a co-founder of Ptc Therapeutics Inc. Dr. Jacobson serves as Chairman of the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). A leader in international efforts to unravel the cellular mechanisms that regulate mRNA stability and translation, Dr. Jacobson has authored numerous seminal papers that established key technologies and concepts in post-transcriptional regulation. Dr. Jacobson co-founded Applied bioTechnology Inc. (AbT), served as Chairman of AbT from its inception until its sale in 1991 and served as a Special Limited Partner with Euclid Partners (venture capital) from 1987 to 1990. He has been Director of Ptc Therapeutics Inc., since 1998 and serves as its Chairman of scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Jacobson has been a member of several National Institutes of Health Study Sections and currently serves on the editorial board of the journal RNA and is editor of the book series Advances in Molecular Biology.
