Mr. Christopher J. Austin serves as Partner of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Mr. Austin is a Partner of Goodwin Procter LLP's Boston office. Mr. Austin's practice focuses on the representation of early stage, private and public companies in both the IT and life sciences sectors. He also advises investment banks in connection with public offerings of technology companies and venture capital firms in connection with investments in technology, biotech and medical device companies. Mr. Austin has represented Citi, Credit-Suisse, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley in connection with initial public offerings and follow-on offerings of technology companies, including particularly healthcare IT companies. Mr. Austin was as a Partner at Ropes & Gray LLP, Cooley LLP and Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. He specializes in the representation of venture capital funds, public and private technology companies and investment banks. His practice includes representing venture capital funds in connection with investments at all stages, representing technology companies of all sizes in connection with mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, venture-capital investments, joint ventures, commercial agreements and other matters and representing both underwriters and issuers in public offerings of debt and equity securities. He joined Ropes & Gray in 1994. He has represented numerous software, medical device and other technology companies from incorporation through venture funding. He also has substantial experience with IT outsourcing transactions for large organizations. He holds a B.A. from the University of Washington in 1989 and earned a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1992, where he was a Director of the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization and an Articles Editor of the Journal on Regulation.
