William A. Knowlton — Partner at Ropes & Gray

Mr. William A. Knowlton is a Partner at Ropes & Gray. He is a a member of the firm's Policy Committee, specializes in representing health care and life science clients. Prior to joining the Policy Committee, Bill was Chair of the Health Care Group, a nationally recognized practice at Ropes & Gray. He counsels academic medical centers, community hospitals, faculty practice plans, physician groups, managed care organizations, health care investment firms, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, and health care information technology companies on business and regulatory matters, helping them find practical solutions to difficult issues in a complex health care industry environment. Bill frequently speaks on health law issues and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Association of University Technology Managers. He serves as vice chair of the Medical Research, Biotechnology, and Clinical Issues Interest Group of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association. Bill is listed in successive editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Bill is currently on the board of directors of The Kenneth B. Schwartz Center and is a former board member of several other nonprofit organizations. Bill is a 1977 cum laude graduate of Yale University, where he majored in history, and a 1982 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.
