In 2016 our world headquarters in Santa Cruz, underwent a solar retrofit that included adding 1,100 panels to the top of the building and another 930 over the parking lot across the street. The resulting 80,000 square feet of solar panels generate almost all the energy required to run the factory—another step towards lowering our climate impact.
It goes without saying that Santa Cruz's 200+ employees love bikes. We love making them, riding them, and getting around on them—which includes commuting to work. In addition to supporting efforts to increase cycling infrastructure locally, Santa Cruz incentivizes employees to ride their bikes, walk, or carpool to work to help take a small step towards reducing CO2 emissions—and since 2019, they have ridden more than 115,000 commute miles.
PayDirt is our commitment to increasing access to trails by supporting the work of the people who make it happen. As a start, we pledged $1 million over three years towards trail projects, organizations, events, and programs geared toward creating and strengthening opportunities for people to get out on the trails.
We’ve always supported the communities and organizations near and dear to us. But PayDirt helps us spread the love outside our own backyard, to riders around the world making not only their trail situation better, but encouraging diversity and inclusion in those communities as well.
