David Cook Ph.D. — Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Research & Development at Seres Therapeutics

Dr. David N. Cook, Ph.D. serves as the Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President of Research & Development at Seres Therapeutics, Inc. since October 2012. Dr. Cook is a scientist and entrepreneur who has held senior operating and management positions in the biotechnology industry over his 20-year career. He served as Chief Operating Officer for the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI). He served as Chief Executive Officer of Anza Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Cook served as Corporate Senior Vice President of Cerus Corporation from March 2007 to November 2007 and its Vice President of Research and Development from June 2001 to February 2007. Dr. Cook joined Cerus Corporation in 1993 and served as Director of Red Cell Development since 1994 and Vice President of Commercialization from 1998 to 1999. He joined Cerus Corporation from Eligix Incorporated where he served as Senior Vice President of Research and Development from 1999 to 2001. Dr. Cook served as Postdoctoral Scientist for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 1990 to 1993, where he studied DNA supercoiling and discovered genes in bacteria important in drug resistance. He is also a co-inventor on over twenty-five patents. He holds an A.B. in American Studies from Harvard University, a B.S. in Chemistry from California State University, Long Beach and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
