Mr. M. Scott Cooper is a Partner at Sidley Austin LLP. Recent major engagements have included the following: Representation of numerous lenders in origination of mortgage- secured loans involving various kinds of commercial properties. Representation of banks, life insurance companies, and other capital markets institutions in origination of mortgage-secured loans involving all kinds of commercial properties. Representation of lenders in restructuring of financing transactions and portfolio relationships involving office buildings, hotels, shopping centers, and residential developments. Representation of financial institutions in dispositions of portfolios of mortgage loans and other real estate assets. Representing financial institutions in foreclosures and in the exercise of other remedies. Representation of institutional investors in purchase and leaseback transactions involving a defense facility and a regional distribution center. Representing landlords and tenants in leasing of over one million square feet of office and retail space. Representation of developers in all phases of development of hotels, shopping centers, and office buildings. Mr. Cooper has lectured and written extensively for the real estate bar, and he has taught real estate finance as Adjunct Professor of Law at Whittier College Law School. He also has served as general counsel to a major national developer of hotels, shopping centers, and office buildings. He completed JD from University of California, Los Angeles in 1979 and AB from University of California, Los Angeles in 1976.
