Scott J. Heyman serves as Head of state and local tax practice in Chicago of Sidley Austin LLP. Mr. Heyman is a Partner at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood. He represents clients in tax controversies, tax planning and transactional consulting. His practice emphasizes state income, franchise, sales, use, telecommunications and utility taxes, and unclaimed property issues. He has represented clients before state and local departments of revenue and in state and federal courts. Mr. Heyman served as the Chairman of the Board of Chicago Bar Association, and is a member of the Editorial Board of The State and Local Tax Lawyer, the American Bar Association State and Local Tax Committee, the Taxpayers' Federation of Illinois State Tax Advisory Committee and the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee. He is a frequent speaker on state and local tax issues. Mr. Heyman has been a certified public accountant in Illinois since 1985. He completed JD from The University of Chicago Law School in 1987 and BSE, cum laude, from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1984.
