Mr. Sal Cobar has been the Chief Operating Officer of Sigma Designs, Inc. since September 9, 2016 and also serves as its Senior Vice President. Mr. Cobar served as the Chief Marketing & Sales Officer and Senior Vice President at Sigma Designs, Inc. since July 2015 until September 9, 2016. Mr. Cobar served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development at Sigma Designs, Inc., since April 19, 2010 until July 2015. He was responsible for unifying sales for Sigma's two business units, the Media Processor Business Group and the Home Connectivity Business Group and have the mission to take all products to market through direct sales, distribution partners and business development teams. Mr. Cobar has more than 30 years of professional experience in the high technology industry with a record of excellent results. He served as Vice President of World-Wide Sales at Silicon Image Inc., from April 23, 2007 to April 16, 2010 and founded their new HDMI business for the television, set-top box, PC and AVR markets. He served as a Senior Director of Strategic Accounts and Americas sales, was instrumental in developing and spearheading Silicon Image Inc.'s overall strategic account sales initiatives as well as leading the Americas sales team. During his tenure from 2002 to 2010, Mr. Cobar played a fundamental role in driving Silicon Image's growth to over $200M in annualized sales. Prior to joining Silicon Image Inc., five years ago, he held several strategic sales and marketing positions including Director of Strategic Sales and Marketing for Volume Server/Thin Client Products, over the course of 12 years at Sun Microsystems Inc. In those positions, he had management and executive responsibilities for engineering, operations and the creation and execution of new markets for network-based thin client technology. He served as Process Manufacturing Engineer at Xerox Corp., for nine years driving multiple engineering and operations initiatives. Mr. Cobar holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from San Jose State University and a Masters in Business Administration/Marketing from Golden Gate University.
