Mr. Andrew J. Sossen, J.D., has been the Chief Compliance Officer, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Starwood Property Trust, Inc. since January 2010 and has been its Chief Operating Officer since July 28, 2011. Mr. Sossen is also a Senior Professional at Starwood Capital Group. He served as General Counsel and Secretary of Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust. He has experience in the real estate markets provides important perspectives. He served as a General Counsel of KKR Financial Corp. from September 2006 to 2009 and served as its Secretary. He served as the General Counsel of KKR Financial Holdings LLC since September 2006 and served as its Secretary. He served as the General Counsel of KKR Asset Management, where he served a Member of Senior Management and was integrally involved in the policy and strategic decision-making, as well as in the day-to-day operations of the business. Before joining KKR Financial Corp., he served at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in its corporate practice, from September 2002 to August 2006 and specialized in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and securities, private equity and bank finance. He served as a Trustee of Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust since 2012. He served as a Trustee of Colony Starwood Homes until January 05, 2016. Mr. Sossen received both his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
