Mr. Thomas M. Bird has been President of State Bank Mortgage Division of State Bank and Trust Company since August 3, 2015. Mr. Bird served as an Executive Vice President of First Bank Mortgage at First Bank of Georgia from April 2000 to August, 2015. He has more than 37 years experience in the mortgage industry. Prior to joining State Bank, he led First Bank Mortgage as Executive Vice President starting in April 2000. Before that, he managed multi-branch mortgage networks throughout the Southeast. He is an active member and past President of both the Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia and the Mortgage Bankers Association of Augusta. He is a past Board member of the Builders Association of Metro Augusta and an active member of the Augusta Board of Realtors. He serves as President of the Augusta Golf Association and Secretary of the Board of Governors of the Augusta Country Club. Mr. Bird graduated from Aquinas High School and attended Augusta College.
