Executive Bio
Educated in England, Steve McDonald, Regional Vice President of Sales for Synopsys Europe, has spent the majority of his business career in California’s Silicon Valley.
He began his technical career in semiconductor manufacturing and process development along with a period of software development in the electronic design automation space. In the early ‘90s, he transitioned from pure R&D to business management and has held various technical business development, sales, sales leadership, and general management roles since then. In 2001, Steve was part of the executive team at Simplex Solutions, which achieved one of the first successful IPOs following the “dotcom” bubble burst. A year later, he joined Synopsys as head of IP and System Sales worldwide. He has held various worldwide roles in Synopsys, including General Manager of the Software Integrity Group, delivering software security solutions. Since 2020, Steve has been responsible for European sales operations.
He has more than 25 years of sales and general management experience in the semiconductor, EDA, and software security industries, most recently defining go-to-market strategies.
He holds a BSEE from the University of Salford, England.
