James M. Costa — Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Officer at TCF Financial Corporation

Mr. James M. Costa, also known as Jim, has been the Chief Risk Officer at TCF Financial Corporation since August 1, 2013 and TCF National Bank since August 2013 respectively. Mr. Costa has been Chief Credit Officer at TCF Financial Corporation since February 15, 2017. At TCF, Mr. Costa works closely with TCF's Board of Directors, executive management team and business line leaders to provide effective oversight of TCF's enterprise risk management function. Mr. Costa has over 20 years of financial services experience, with 13 years in risk management. Prior to joining TCF Financial, Mr. Costa served as an Executive Vice President of Risk and Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management at PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. from 2010 to 2013 and led enterprise credit strategy for Wachovia Corporation from 2004 to 2010. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Economics at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Costa graduated from Ohio State University with a BSBA in Economics. He also attended doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota.
