Mr. John J. Bermel has been the Chief Financial Officer of Healthfirst, Inc. since June 2, 2016. Mr. served as Interim Chief Financial Officer of Healthfirst, Inc. since February 11, 2016 until June 2, 2016. Mr. Bermel served as the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Health Business Operations of Aetna Inc. since May 1997, serving as its Senior Business Unit Finance Officer for the large part of his tenure. Mr. Bermel spent 17 years at Aetna where he began as Controller of the Health Business. Mr. Bermel has more than 20 years of health care industry experience. Through several broad roles, Mr. Bermel has demonstrated success in financial management, turnaround and change management and as a trusted advisor to executive management. Mr. Bermel served as Controller of Aetna's Health Business from May 1997 to August 2000 and Chief Regional Finance Officer from August 2000 to August 2001. He served as Controller of Insurance Operations at United Healthcare and Controller of MetraHealth, which United Healthcare purchased. He also spent approximately 12 years in public accounting serving insurance clients. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University and a Master's of Business Administration in Finance from The Wharton School.
