Paul E. Portsmore Jr. — Senior Vice President of Growth at The Health First Group

Mr. Paul E. Portsmore, Jr. serves as Senior Vice President of Growth at Healthfirst, Inc. Mr. Portsmore served as Senior Vice President of Business Development for Healthfirst, Inc. since 2012. At Healthfirst, Mr. Portsmore is responsible for developing new market opportunities and growing existing markets, and oversees product development, sales, and external affairs. He has more than 15 years of healthcare experience. He served as Vice President Provider Relations at Amerihealth Insurance Company of New Jersey since June 2006. Before joining Healthfirst, Mr. Portsmore was Vice President for Health Services at AmeriHealth of New Jersey, and he was responsible for unit cost and utilization management, quality management, population health and wellness, and developing and driving business strategy. Mr. Portsmore served as Assistant Vice President of Network Contracting for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield where he headed physician relations and contracting in New York and New Jersey, and led contracting and medical cost control for the New York City/Long Island service area. He was accountable for network contracting and management, provider relations, and provider technology solutions. He also directed Empire's provider e-Business initiatives. Mr. Portsmore holds an MBA degree in Health Care Administration from Baruch College-Zicklin School of Business in New York and a BA degree in Political Science from Providence College in Rhode Island.
